SeamPixie was born in 2020 out of a love of slow fashion brands and sewing. As the SeamPixie client base grew so did the enjoyment of working with multiple brands to develop and produce their designs into a reality. With the revival of small businesses and craft in the UK, SeamPixie is really excited to work with businesses that are looking to upscale their production in order to be able to expand; whilst also giving the peace of mind that they are able to continue to provide customers with high quality garments, but still be low-waste, ethical and sustainable minded. SeamPixie aims to be able to meet any brand's needs by working with no minimum order quantities and even offering a made-to-order basis.
Katie began her professional sewing career in 2011, working as an apprentice for County Couture Bridal and Dressmakers in Devon before going on to attend university. Graduating from The University for the Creative Arts Rochester in 2016 with a Fashion Atelier BA Hons. Both as an apprentice and during University, Katie learnt how to make garments to the highest quality. Whilst at University she completed a 5-month internship for Jazz Kuipers in Amsterdam, where she primarily worked in the production of a leather and wool-based menswear collection. After the internship Jazz continued employment on a freelance basis for several years. With a knowledge base covering the use of a wide range of materials including (but not limited to) Chiffons and Silks to Velvet, Jerseys, Knits, Wool, Fur and Leather. Katie has also had the privilege of being able to work with Eirinn Hayhow and her development of Bio Materials, developing and evolving practical ways to work with unconventional and experimental fabrics.
At SeamPixie we are highly adept at pattern cutting and have the ability to either drape on the stand or produce flat patterns to create a garment from your designs. With an applied knowledge of grading at SeamPixie we can work with designers size charts in order to grade patterns from a 3XS to 3XL.
All our work is carried out in house in our studio in Northamptonshire, U.K. If you would like further information please fill out our contact form and we will be back in touch.
